CAMP TAHQUITZ

Attached it a “What to bring” list of items you will need to bring to Camp Tahquitz. It looks pretty complete, but in addition, you will need to bring your mess kit.

It will be important to look over the merit badge requirements and to prep any additional materials that will be necessary in order to complete the badge in camp.

Spending money should be about $25 - $30 (you may want to buy a camp shirt which I think is about $10?) In addition, it is a tradition to stop by A&W Root Beer on the way home for lunch, so you may want to bring $5 in a separate envelope for that.

It is also a good idea to bring a fanny/day pack, or the like, to carry merit badge book, pencil, etc.. When you pack, please pack swim shorts at top. You will have to take a swim test soon after you arrive.

Remember NOT to bring Game Boys or any electronic games, radios, pagers or cell phones (a pay phone is available for your use.) Do not bring a knife other then an approved Boy Scout pocketknife. If you do not have your Totin’ Chip card yet, let an adult leader know, and he or she will help you. If you have just bridged over, your Cub Scout one does not count. You must earn the Boy Scout one.

To avoid attracting bears, do not bring any food or snacks. No food is allowed in your tent. All soaps, toothpaste, hair gels, etc. need to be unscented.

Boys will assemble at St. Joseph’s at 9:00 AM for a 9:30 departure on August 3rd. We will do a pack inspection before leaving.

You will need to bring a sack lunch for the first day.

As with all Troop 120 outings, you must travel in Class A uniform. Class A uniform consists of the Scout uniform shirt with all proper emblems, a neckerchief and slide. You are encouraged to wear green or khaki pants or shorts if you don’t have Scout pants. The Scout hat is optional, but some sort of hat will be needed for the week (see list.)
